Sensory Motor Domain

Gross Motor Domain
For babies, the Gross Motor Domain includes behaviors such as an infant's ability to lift and turn his/her head; and how well he/she can control and use his/her arms and legs.
Fine Motor Domain
Infant behaviors observed in the Fine Motor Domain include those which show the visual activity of an infant such as focusing, tracking and scanning, and the beginning development of hand-eye coordination.
American Sigh Language Beginning at 7 Months
Sign language gives babies and parents an effective way to communicate at an early age, reducing frustration for both and creating a special bond that is so important for healthy child development. Babies who use sign language tend to speak sooner with larger vocabularies, show an increase in IQ scores and engage in more sophisticated play.
TODDLERS
The children in the Toddler One class are 12 to 24 months. The ratio in this class is 3:1 with a maximum of five children.
The Toddler One Class at ELIBUNNY Family Child Care has a wonderful age appropriate learning environment. It is at this age that we begin fostering the concepts of sharing and playing with others.
Their communication skills are enhanced with song and constant communications between teacher and child. There is a weekly theme, which enables each child to have great sensory stimulation as they do hands on art with crayons, paint, glue and other safe materials.
They also receive sensory stimulation through music, finger play, special snacks, fragrances and a brightly colored classroom. Each child begins this class on their own schedule and is gradually worked into a routine schedule in preparation for Toddler Two. (Some of the transitions include using spoons, Sippy cups, plates and sleeping on cots)
The children in the Toddler Two class are 24 to 36 months. The ratio in this class is 5:1 with a maximum of five children.
Our Toddler two class is a happy interactive class where the children enjoy songs, story time and art. There is a theme each week in this class, as well as number, color and shape. The children love to get their hands dirty while creating a wonderful art project that relates to our lesson plan. The children in this classroom are also exposed to daily Spanish lessons where they quickly learn their colors, numbers, words and simple phrases.
The room is decorated with the children’s work and many pictures of family and class activities. This allows the parents to “see” their children at an activity and gives the children comfort that family is always close by.
Letters are gradually introduced through flashcards and repetition. Fine motor and large motor skills are developed with manipulative, outside play and more.
Potty training will be completed in this class before your child can move to our Preschool class.
